The BAY Lincoln is a youth services organization housed in and supported by the only indoor public skateboarding facility within 200 miles of Lincoln, Nebraska. The BAY began as a skatepark. But when founder Mike Smith recognized a large population of homeless youth using the park, he quickly turned it into one of Nebraska's premier youth service organizations. The BAY Lincoln now operates a number of outreach programs that focus on homeless intervention and prevention, as well as sex trafficking intervention and prevention. The skatepark at The BAY Lincoln is nationally recognized as a sustainable and entrepreneurial model for a largely self-supported non-profit organization; all the while creating a uniquely dignifying and natural process of providing community service. The BAY Lincoln is also the headquarters of Skate for Change, an international homeless outreach and advocation organization that engages young skaters in efforts to eliminate homelessness.
