My grandpa died from covid 3 1/2 weeks after they chose to host an eater egg hunt indoors with at least 100 people without masks. There were many vulnerable residents that came down with covid following this event. They have no regard for the people they are responsible for. Preceding the covid, there was general neglect and lack of care. The manager and head nurse are the most ineffective and do not give a crap about your family members, which is obvious since they can't be bothered to reach out when someone under their care passes away.
Also if you actually read the positive reviews- you'll see a theme in that a vast majority are from people who work there or visit but don't actually have a family member living at The Knolls. Every time they get a negative review they probably ask their staff to make a positive one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tj T.Lincoln, NE01Nov 1, 2021
My Mother has been in independent living at The Knolls for a month.
She consistently tells me horror stories about the odd food choices they are provided, poor food quality and RUDE food servers.
This is an expensive facility and we trusted their food services were good if not great. The sales person certainly promised this to my Mother in front of me and my siblings as we toured the facilities.
For the money senior clients pay to live there, they should do MUCH better with their food service as it is the highlight of many senior's day And should be healthy.
Mother has spoken with The Knolls (outgoing) Director with no acceptable answers.
Needless to say, we are now looking at other places for her to live.
What a huge disappointment the leadership here cannot hire a good chef with some obvious experience with seniors and caring food servers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Denice H.Council Bluffs, IA01Apr 3, 2019First to Review
They have a big over turn in staffing. All the great staffing has left or been let go. It is ashamed that such a good retirement community has gone down hill in just a few shorts months. The food has gone down hill because they let go the head cook and replace the head cook with someone with less experience. At times the residents will received peanut butter, jelly, and bread and they will have to make their own sandwich.
I think twice about putting my love one there. Nicole does not always follow through with what she says. I have had friends of family move their love ones to a different retirement community. You spend a lot of money to live there and you should have top of the line retirement home. If I could give a zero stars I would. Please think twice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lisa K.Lincoln, NE01Jun 17, 2019
My mom has been at The Knolls for nearly a year and is very happy there. The staff are warm and friendly, the facility is cheerful and pleasant. I am always greeted in a friendly manner. She also enjoys the exercise program they offer and is so much improved from the time she spent in rehab. They are very encouraging and interested in the individual. If there's a better place in Lincoln, I don't know where it would be!
