  • After a 29-year journey with Sinclair Hille Architects, we send the best retirement wishes to Principal, John Kay, who joined our team in 1995. Before his tenure at Sinclair Hille, John served as a historic preservation consultant for the Nebraska State Historic Preservation office, documenting historic places for the National Register of Historic Places. John explored every road in 63 of Nebraska's counties. When Sinclair Hille ventured into historic preservation and renovation work in 1995, John's extensive background and experience made him an invaluable asset to the team. Over the years, John played a pivotal role in managing the Transportation Enhancement program, business development initiatives and project management for some of Sinclair Hille’s most notable projects. Recent projects bear testament to his expertise, including the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL) Glenn Korff School of Music and the UNL Carolyn Pope Edwards College of Education and Human Sciences. Reflecting on his tenure, John reminisces about his favorite moment at Sinclair Hille Architects: “My historic work coming full circle and being the project manager for the West Haymarket Amtrak Station and historic canopy renovation project. We took the 1927 canopy apart piece by piece, marked each piece and stored it while they put in Canopy Street, then put it back together to recreate the historic feeling of that area.” As we celebrate John Kay's retirement, we salute him for 29 years of unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment. We had a great time celebrating as a staff, and here's to a well-deserved retirement filled with fond memories and new adventures! 🥂

  • Congratulations to Abbey Bettinger on her 4th work anniversary! When reflecting on the past year and her favorite moments, Abbey shared, “The opening of Union Bank Place, within the building originally designed by I.M Pei, was one of my favorite things from the past year. It’s so exciting to see how we were able to work with UBT to transform the lobby space into a welcoming environment for the Lincoln community.” She also mentioned her involvement in the significant effort to complete construction documents for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s (UNL) Glenn Korff School of Music, expressing excitement as the building begins to take shape on the Northeast corner of 9th and Q. Additionally, Abbey enjoys socializing with her co-workers during lunch, where discussions range from the latest episode of The Bachelor to red carpet fashion and 10/11’s question of the day. Looking ahead, Abbey looks forward to learning more about wellness and sustainability within architecture. “I’m also really excited to be involved in some of our upcoming projects and diving in and learning about the project type and user. Even if what I learn is very project specific, parts and pieces can translate to a wide variety of project types.” Congratulations Abbey! We are deeply honored to have benefited from your leadership and expertise over the past 4 years. Here’s to many more years of success! We eagerly anticipate the future and the continued growth and achievements of Sinclair Hille under your leadership as Senior Associate. Cheers to you!

Happy One Year Anniversary to our Marketing & Business Development Manager, Angela Barry! Angela has had a long career in Marketing and Advertising since graduating from college in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. All her experiences provided a well-rounded view of Business Development, Marketing, Advertising and Graphic Design. She has always loved creating and thinking outside the box to promote the strengths of each business she's worked for, including her own business. Before Sinclair Hille, Angela owned a little neighborhood grocery store for 9 years with her parents. There, Angela was able to see another side of advertising and marketing from a retail standpoint. She said, “It was super fun and I'm proud of how I was able to reimagine and be creative with our strategies in a very competitive market. I believe I positioned us well to reach the audience we were targeting to increase our client base.” They sold the store at the height of its success so her parents could retire after being in the business for over 60 years. She misses all her customers but is happy to be working for a company that approaches client service like she did at A Street Market! Angela’s customers always came first, and she made sure they always left the store with everything they needed and a smile on their face. She is now applying those same principles at Sinclair Hille who, in her book, is #1 in client service.   “The staff here is wonderful and our clients are always in good hands, which makes my job of promoting such a great firm easy.”-Angela Barry   Q: What is your favorite memory at Sinclair Hille?  A: “I have many favorite memories so far at Sinclair Hille but one that sticks out and something I look forward to everyday is lunch with my co-workers and Abbey Bettinger's "Question of the Day."    Q: What is your dream vacation? A: "My dream vacation is with my husband somewhere exploring new places we've yet to discover."  Currently Angela is in Leadership Lincoln Class 39 and enjoys making new connections in Lincoln and surrounding communities.
