With #NationalNursesWeek nearing at its close, we wanted to share one more piece of festivities from the week. Throughout the week we held nursing fairs on both of our campuses with a fun baseball theme as well as a photo area where our nurses could express why they do what they do so well. The fairs were intended to celebrate our own outstanding nursing staff but also to reiterate all the opportunities and benefits they have as Madonna nurses. From education assistance, career trajectory possibility and overall support, we wanted to show all the ways Madonna appreciates all they do. Today isn’t just #throwbackthursday; for us, it’s an opportunity to celebrate Founders’ Day and the 66-year legacy made by our founders, the Benedictine Sisters of Yankton, South Dakota. On April 18, 1958, the Sisters began a legacy of hope and healing on the Lincoln Campus that today includes the Omaha Campus too. As we take a moment to celebrate our employees’ excellence and service to the organization, we also want to pay tribute to those instrumental individuals responsible for laying the groundwork for the world-class rehabilitation we are known for today. Among them is Sister Phyllis Hunhoff, who was just 33 when she became our second administrator.
